Motivating, inspiring, and empowering women across the tri-county area with encouraging words from the ground-breaking women listed. In honor of breast cancer awareness month, emotional wellness awareness month, and health education week, we are excited to present the Women's Wellness Empowerment Brunch. We gathered a panel of women in power positions to share their story in efforts to assist instill resilience in those that need a push in achieving their goal. Men are welcome. Dunn, MBA Majorie Lozama, Oludara Amole, MD Melissa P. Dunn, MBA Melissa is a small business owner and community activist who has devoted her career to promoting economic stimulus, health and wellness, and quality of life issues throughout South Florida. With a degree in Sociology from Judson College in Marion, AL, and an MBA from Florida International University, Melissa has managed her business under the philosophy that you can raise profits while also raising awareness. Since 2013, Melissa has been actively involved with the Lauderhill Regional Chamber of Commerce, serving as a board member from 2014 to 2019, as Board President. She has served on the NBC6 Making a Difference Community Action Board, the Visit Lauderhill Advisory Committee, City of Lauderhill Planning and Zoning Board and Prosperity Broward’s Marketing Committee. Melissa is the founder of Hibiscus Girl’s Leadership Academy which provides mentorship to Lauderhill high school girls. She has produced the LRCC Women of Distinction Awards from 2014 to 2019 where over 65 women were honored for their contributions to the community. Melissa has worked extensively in the healthcare industry, including at Florida Medical Center, Northwest Medical Center, Cleveland Clinic, and the American Cancer Society, where she was responsible for bringing together regional health systems, government agencies, and community stakeholders to increase cancer screenings at local hospitals and increase volunteerism. Melissa lives and works in Lauderhill where she can be found enjoying the city’s many beautiful parks and its diverse and independently owned shops and restaurants. She is a business-minded marketing expert, philanthropist, and host of the DunnWisdom Morning Show who believes that the best way to effect social change is to show how what is good for the community really is good for business. Oludara O. Amole, MD Dr. Amole is a doctor primarily located in Hollywood, FL, with other offices in Hollywood, FL and Sarasota, FL. She has 9 years of experience. Her specialties include Internal Medicine. She graduated from the Medical College of Wisconsin in 2012 and is affiliated with Memorial Healthcare System. Marjorie Lozama, MSNEd, APRN, PMHNP-BC, CDMSMarjorie Lozama is a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She received her Post-Master Certificate from Florida International University. Marjorie’s love for learning and her determination to assist those affected by mental illness led her to further her education in the mental health field. She recognized the mental health disparities among minority populations resulting from numerous environmental, sociocultural, and socioeconomic factors and works to help bridge the gap. Her background and experience have focused on adult patients with an array of psychiatric disorders. Marjorie maintains and delivers comprehensive patient-centered care, which is culturally tailored, including brief psychotherapy and psychotropic medications if indicated. She is also a licensed Qualified Rehabilitation Provider for the State of Florida and holds a Certification as a Disability Management Specialist. Marjorie is a proud member of Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society. Marjorie has worked in various areas of nursing. Her multi-faceted experience includes; Medical-Surgical Nursing; Acute and Long-Term Rehabilitation, Hospice and Home Care, Case Management, and mental health. When she is not working with patients, Marjorie is often found serving in a variety of community organizations. She is a remarkable community servant leader who has donated countless hours to help improve and enrich the lives of those around her. She is dedicated to collaborating with organizations to promote awareness and advocates to decrease the stigma attached to mental health and build sustainable mental health care in her local community and in her native country, Haiti. Marjorie has been a dynamic member of the Haitian American Nurses Association (HANA) since 2009. She served in many capacities including as Vice President and President. Marjorie is presently the chair of the International Affairs Committee for both HANA and Haitian American Professional Coalition (HAPC). She is a proud member of the American Psychiatry Nurses Association, Miami Black Nurses Association, and Florida Nurses Association. Marjorie serves in many other organizations and over the years she has received many accolades for her strong commitment to community service and outstanding leadership. Powerhouse Holistic Health Education Org., mission is to promote a health conscious lifestyle among low-income communities by alleviating resource barriers and increasing health literacy. Research supports that the implementation of community health education cumulatively enhances an individual’s ability to self-amplify their capacity to maintain a health-conscious lifestyle for themselves and their family, ultimately improving health equity (Hahn & Truman, 2015).
