Jazz influenced band seeks horns and keys

Meets

1334 Dell Ave, Suite F near Winchester, Campbell CA

Description

We are experienced musicians (guitar, bass, drums), that have been play'n and gig'n together for a few years in a larger format (+ 2 saxes and vocals). We are looking to add members again and re-build or unique repertoire. We like to play highly arranged jazz/groove base tunes; select standards from the Real Books, but we also lean towards tunes from the 80’s, 90’s and beyond (our generation’s “standards”). Our arrangements are a collaborative process. While we appreciate most musical genres, we tend to avoid: thrash, punk, shred metal, disco, country, polkas, elevator music, rap, “hip-hop”, top 40, “Classic Rock”, Taylor Swift, musical theatre, opera, dubstep, and Kenny G. Basically if we like the original and can rearrange it in our own jazzy/groovy kinda way, we’ll try it. Here’s tunes that inspire us: Brad Mehldau Trio - Paranoid Android https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1xuvOToo2Q&list=PLubaifwtWlQ9PykvSMvRlLsEBHXPH4ab0&index=6 E.S.V. - Dodge The Dodo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J5r1Ygkk0KA The Bad Plus - Karma Police https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U66ZBGaGd1I&list=PLCL6iW_YPbNrNhDqc-t4Bk5LCvQa8h7Sc&index=10 Miles Davis - All Blues (we have an arrangement to play it in 4/4) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-488UORrfJ0 Vulfpeck - Dean Town https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=le0BLAEO93g Kait Dunton (trio) - Prelude https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KM0u1_k2XfE The Smiths - This Charming Man https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYYZFx7_DS8 Bill Withers - Ain't No Sunshine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YuKfiH0Scao And this trombone solo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vh8l0x9uF-Y Oh, and our band's mascot is Randolph Mantooth. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=egCz5qppicY So... We are looking for a horn player or two (trumpet and/or saxes) and keys (piano mostly, but other textures too). We could/can add vocals as needed, and are willing to experiment with loops, samples, and affects, too. We are looking for musicians who can rehearse once a week (Mondays, 6pm start time) in South San Jose: https://www.reedsrecordings.com/rehearsal We'll rebuild our repertoire, and then get out and gig. We all have day-jobs so this is for fun and the love of making music. Interested? Intrigued? Reply with a number were we can text ya, and we’ll take it from there.
