SALEM, MA — Salem residents will have another couple of chances to learn the stances of candidates running for citywide office on Nov. 2. The Salem Chamber of Commerce and League of Women Voters will host candidate forums for at-large city council seats and mayor over the next two weeks. The city council forum will be Wednesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m at the Hawthorne Hotel. The mayoral forum will be on Oct. 26 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Hawthorne Hotel. Because of Board of Health coronavirus protocols, attendees will be capped at 75 and masks are mandatory. Pre-registration is required with only one ticket allowed per registration. Because of the limited attendance, both forums will be broadcast live on Salem TV's Government Access Channel 22 and SATV's YouTube channel. The Chamber said no placards, signs, posters, stickers or other campaign material will be allowed to be displayed in the hotel. The Chamber is seeking sponsors for the forums as well. As a presenting sponsoring, which is $500 for both events, the sponsor will receive two reserved tickets for each event, a podium mention and a featured logo presentation on the program, website and social media. As an underwriter sponsor, which is $250 for one event, the sponsor receives two tickets for the specific forum sponsored, a podium mention and the sponsor's name on the program, website and social media.
