BRICK, NJ — Two Toms River men were arrested Tuesday after police were called to a motor vehicle burglary in progress, Brick Township police said. Ryan Payesko, 27, and Nicolas Massimi, 28, were arrested after police were called to Greenbriar I about 2:30 a.m. about a motor vehicle burglary in progress, Patrol Officer Victoria Finelli said. A caller said there were two people trying to get into motor vehicles on Collins Court. Patrolman Kyle Patrick, K-9 Officer Patrolman Scott Smith, Patrolman Kyle Dudak and Patrolman John Sullivan responded. As he responded, Patrick saw two men who matched the descriptions provided by the caller in a vehicle, Finelli said. The officers pulled the vehicle over and the investigation led to the arrests, she said. Payesko was charged with theft of moveable property; burglary; possession of controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia; possession of hypodermic needles; possession of controlled dangerous substance (heroin) and possession of certain weapons (brass knuckles), Finelli said. Payesko also was issued a traffic summons for operating a vehicle with a suspended license. Massimi was charged with theft of moveable property; burglary; possession of controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia; possession of hypodermic needles, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance (heroin). Police believe the two men entered at least 20 vehicles; the investigation is continuing, she said. Both were being held in the Ocean County Jail. "The Brick Police Department would like to commend our residents for remaining vigilant and reporting of suspicious activity," she said. Residents are also reminded not to keep valuables in their vehicles and to keep their vehicles locked. Police urge anyone who sees a crime or suspicious incident taking place to call 732-262-1100 or 911.
