SUMMIT, NJ — The general election is only a few weeks away, and Union County residents will be able to cast their votes on state and local races. This year, there are three ways to vote, and a number of decisions to make, including an election for governor. Here's what to know ahead of this year's elections: The Rundown Election date: Nov. 2 Check your voter registration status here. See where to drop off your mail-in ballot here. Track your mail-in ballot here. See where to vote in person here. Who And What Are On The Summit Ballot? Governor's race: Gov. Murphy is running for reelection this year against Republican Jack Ciattarelli, Madelyn Hoffman (Green Party), Gregg Mele (Libertarian) and Joanne Kuniansky (Socialist Workers Party). 21st District State Senate: In New Jersey's 21st Legislative District, Republican Assemblyman John Bramnick faces Democratic Roselle Mayor Joseph Signorello III for the spot.Assembly: Democrats Elizabeth A. Graner and Anjali Mehrotra face Republicans Michele Matskioudis and Nancy Muñoz. Voters can choose any two.Summit Common Council: Democrat Beth Little is running for re-election to her council-at-large seat. Democrat Andy Minegar filed to run for a 1st Ward seat. During the June primary, former Summit Police Chief Robert Weck missed the deadline to file to run for that seat as a Republican, but led a write-in campaign in order to face Minegar. Incumbent Democrat Greg Vartan faces Republican David Fosgate for the 2nd Ward seat. Republican Lisa Allen filed to keep her 2nd Ward seat. READ MORE: Five File To Run For Summit Common Council. Where And How To Vote In-person early voting: Early voting locations in Union County will be open from Oct. 23 to Oct. 31, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Find out more here. And see the list of seven locations in Union County to vote early here. In-person on election day: Voting will be available at regular polling locations in 2021. The polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Specific polling locations will be listed on sample ballots, but can also be found here. Mail-in ballot and drop boxes: Generally, vote-by-mail applications must be received by mail at least seven days before the election. But Union County Clerk Joanne Rajoppi reminds voters who wish to use a Vote-by-Mail ballot that they can apply for one in person at the County Clerk's offices in Westfield and Elizabeth. They can also fill out their ballot during the same visit and cast it in a secure drop-off box at the office, or take it with them to fill out later. Find out more here.
