Press release from the City of Batavia: October 15, 2021 The Batavia Police Department will be participating a location for National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, October 23, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.  According to the 2017 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 6 million Americans misused controlled prescription drugs. The study shows that most abused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet. It is important to stress that the Batavia Police Department is not responsible for removing the batteries from the devices.  If the batteries cannot be removed, individual consumers can check with large electronic chain stores who may accept vape pen or e-cigarette devices for proper disposal.  Individual consumers may also contact their local Hazardous Materials Management Facility to determine if they accept these devices, and for additional guidance regarding proper disposal.    Collection Site: Batavia Police Department 100 N.
