MUST HAVE SOME MACHINE SEWING EXPERIENCE. Come and learn how to understand, setup and use industrial sewing machines. This class offering is geared towards fashion students and DIY types that are interested in gaining confidence and learning more about industrial sewing methods via understanding machine types. Hands on opportunity using small projects to reinforce explanations. Most machine types and sub-classes can be explored. Available are lockstitch, overlock, tacking, cover and chainstitch type machines. Depending on who responds, I will limit classes to just a few students at a time to focus on actual needs. All lessons start with basic single needle lockstitch and proceed after basic proficiency is attained. Topics for study include: Threading machines Understanding thread tension, thread and needle size relationships Feed mechanism relationships, stitch length, stitch quality and fabric behavior Sewing various materials and setting up for each Folders, binding and attachments By appointment only, evenings and weekends ok. $25/hour for a minimum of 2 hours Please email for phone number
