River Boating on the Mississippi

I have had several boats over the years, a liveaboard sail boat in San Diego, a 36 foot houseboat back in the 90's and now I just bought a cabin cruiser, which is in MacGregor Iowa at present. It's not hard to buy a boat now, what is hard is finding a slip or moorage to keep it at in La Crosse. I have even seen some travelers anchored out below La Crosse. I guess there is only so much river frontage and backwater areas. :o) What's your story?
