Description
I’m forming a trio to play gigs at the numerous smaller venues in the Finger Lakes area. At this point, I would like to speak with people about what they would like out of this kind of musical opportunity and what they might bring to the table. I have no predetermined instrumentation, set list or presentation. What I think is most important as a first step is to find people able to communicate, have reasonable and common goals and are able to contribute something significant musically.
The one thing to consider is that there are many solo performers, duos and small ensembles which are out there playing. Many of them are outstanding for what they do musically. Therefore, this project is not apt to have a whole lot of success doing the same old things. A sense of unique approach, creative presentation and an interesting set list beyond the norm are all things I would like to accomplish. Music is not a competition but we will need to differentiate ourselves. So……
Everything is on the table. What do you like to do musically? How would you create a positive and productive group dynamic? What experiences can you contribute? What would you like to ask me?
I can get around a guitar and keyboards with reasonable skill. I harmonize but don’t have much of a lead voice - at least in my own head - given that, it’s probably reasonable to think vocals would be important. I’ve got all the stuff needed like space, gear, time, etc. I feel like this could be anything we want it to be as long as we communicate, work toward agreed upon goals and need to find the satisfaction in sounding really great.
OK, enough. You get the idea. If you are even the slightest bit interested, give a shout. It doesn’t matter right now what you do musically - guitar, bass, strings, harp, tuba… whatever. Let’s think outside the box a bit. But, let’s be driven by communication, creativity and uniqueness.
Thanks!! Let’s talk
