Meet our SpeakersMeghna Tare As UT Arlington’s first Chief Sustainability Officer, Meghna Tare works collaboratively to foster partnerships among academic, research, and operational departments at UT Arlington, and to address opportunities to promote sustainability in several areas such as energy efficiency, resource conservation, waste management, transportation, education, outreach, community engagement, supporting and encouraging student initiatives, and implementing an interdisciplinary and sustainability-focused curriculum. Olinka Green Olinka Green is a Community Organizer and on the front lines in the fight for justice for the lives of young people of color. A former youth educator, Olinka is now a Dallas environmental activist bringing attention to local environmental injustices. Yolanda Bluehorse Yolonda Blue Horse (Rosebud Sioux Tribal member) is a co-founder of the Society of Native Nations in Texas, a group dedicated to advocating for Native people and the earth by helping to protect and preserve culture, spirituality, teachings, medicine, and way of life. She has been active in the campaign against racist sports mascots, and the leading organizer of protests at the headquarters of Dallas, TX based Energy Transfer Partners, the company behind DAPL. Tamara Cook Tamara Cook is a senior sustainability manager with seventeen years' experience, specializing in setting and achieving goals for carbon, energy, waste, and water reduction, growing revenues from sustainability initiatives. She had spent her career developing resources and conducting planning studies to support resilient and sustainable communities in North Texas. Pharr Andrews Pharr Andrews currently serves as the Senior Climate Coordinator for the City of Dallas, where her primary function is to coordinate the development and implementation of the City’s first Comprehensive and Climate Action Plan (CECAP). Marsha Jackson Marsha Jackson is the infamous Shingle Mountain activist and an active volunteer in the Dallas community. She is an Environmental Activist, a member of the Red Cross Disaster Team, Red Cross Sheltering, co-chair of Southern Sector Rising and board member of Downwinders at Risk. Evelyn Mayo Evelyn Mayo is the chair of Downwinders at Risk and is part of the next generation of dedicated Dallas activists. Evelyn has become a reliable bridge between communities of color and the local environmental scene. She helped organize several groups into the Coalition for Neighborhood Self-Determination, which agitated for fairness in community-created land use plans. "Don’t ask what the world needs.
