Description

Case Managers: Work smarter, not harder! Empower participants to work towards independence and self-sufficiency. *VIA ZOOM* RACMI Case Manager Core Training Dates: Tuesdays, November 2 and November 9 Time: 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Location: NICNE *live via Zoom* Work smarter, not harder! Case Managers can empower participants to work towards independence and self-sufficiency. Learn skills and tools that will change the way you deliver case management. This approach works to actively engage participants in setting and achieving THEIR goals, focusing on strengths and resources while moving away from “doing for” participants what they are capable of doing for themselves. Participants lead and become responsible for change because they are the only ones who can ultimately make change happen, while the Case Manager provides support as their backup partner. Learn the principles of the Rockford Area Case Management Initiative (RACMI) to help you work with, not for your participants. This person-centered, outcome-based approach to case management is based on Empowering People for Change: Making Case Management Work by Dr. Beverly Ford. Activities and skill building sessions will help you put your skills into practice and you will leave feeling confident and ready to empower your participants through implementing the RACMI core values. Case Managers and Supervisors (or front-line staff with relevant job duties at your organization, regardless of title) are encouraged to attend. This training can be taken as a refresher, or as a foundation for new Case Managers at your organization. A Certificate of Completion for attendance will be awarded. Tuesday, November 2: Defining Case Management: Part 1: Introduction to Dr. Ford's approach to Case Management and program overview, Journey Towards Self-Sufficiency, and Helping vs. Empowering your program participants. Instructors: Melanie Overton, Jessica Gonzales, Associate Director of Mission Services, Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois. Tuesday, November 9: Defining Case Management: Part 2: Fostering Self-Sufficiency, outlining the Empowerment Approach to Case Management, and defining Effective Case Management. Topics include preparing program participants (Motivation and Change) for self-sufficiency, helping them find motivation in their lives, and understanding the change process. Instructors: Heather Foulker, Quality Assurance Manager, RAMP, Courtney Geiger, Director of Mission Services, Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois. The Rockford Area Case Management Initiative (RACMI) is a community-wide approach to deliver individualized strength-based and person-centered support services that help participants achieve specific, self-defined outcomes leading to a healthy self-reliance and interdependence within their community. All instructors have been trained by Dr. Beverly Ford and either currently work in case management or have previous long-term case management experience. The RACMI is coordinated by NICNE, with support from Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois. NICNE is seeking additional RACMI volunteer Instructors. Interested in volunteering? Contact NICNE at 815.753.8733 for more information on how to apply. NICNE provides training and support to nonprofit organizations in the Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin region.
