Contract Construction Inspector We are looking for local independent contractors (1099 position) to perform inspections for residential projects during the construction phase to ensure that all foundation and framing work being performed is in accordance with design drawings, industry standards, and Client requirements. This includes inspecting drilled piers, foundations, framing, clip and straps and nail patterns. Inspections for windstorm areas are inspected and observed according to TDI standards. Inspectors are paid per completed inspection. This is a contract position and does not guarantee full time work. We have immediate openings for individuals in the Greater Houston Area. Inspector Expectations • The inspector's primary focus is to photograph, document, and confirm all aspects of construction are carried out in accordance with industry standards and design drawings. • Provide daily observation reports for all field work being performed and submit said reports and photographs into the office for processing via email. Specific Skill Set: • Ability to read and interpret structural blue prints. • Ability to accurately take and record measurements specified in design drawings. • Must be detailed oriented and efficient in preparing site visit reports daily. • Have the aptitude and mental ability to problem solve and conduct professional conversations with clients, homeowners, builders, superintendents and or architects. • Previous inspection or construction experience is a plus but not required. We offer new inspector training, however; potential candidates with experience in any of the following areas are preferred: Structural Inspections, Residential Construction, Commercial Construction Physical Requirements: • Be able to perform physically demanding labor including observations on rooftops and in crawlspaces beneath structures. • Must be able to climb ladders, bend, twist, stand for long periods, and work outdoors in all weather. Technology Requirements: • Inspectors must have access to the internet, a working email address, printer capable of printing 11x17 plans, and a smart phone with means to email pictures/PDFs. • Working knowledge of a variety of computer programs, including MS Office. General Professional Requirements: • Professional/Clean attire and appearance • Excellent written and oral communication skills, time-management, and organizational skills • Safety awareness and all personal protective equipment (PPE) • Good attitude and the ability to work independently Travel Requirements: • Willing to travel on a regular basis to construction sites across the greater Houston area. • Willing to travel on occasion to construction sites across Texas. • Must provide your own reliable means of transportation
