At 10:28 p.m. Wednesday, Lowell police responded to a 911 call reporting shots fired around Loring Street and Westford Street, according to a news release. Officers found a Fabian suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. "Preliminary investigation suggests that the night of the shooting, Nathaniel Fabian had allegedly been exchanging multiple text messages with his ex-girlfriend and several other people, including Timmy Chan, regarding social media posts," officials said. "After numerous interviews and reviewing phone records and surveillance video, detectives learned that the parties involved allegedly arranged to meet in the area where the shooting occurred." At the meetup location, the defendant shot the victim and fled the scene, officials alleged. Chan went to the Lowell Police Department and was arrested without incident Thursday night, officials said. At his arraignment, Chan was held without bail. The next court date is Nov. 12. All people are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
