SEI is seeking students and graduates of participating energy training programs for the position of HVAC and Insulation Technician, placed with employer partner Building Efficiency, funded by MCE rate payers, and employed by SEI through our Energize Careers program. The Energize Careers Program allows individuals to gain real-world energy career experience by contributing to a meaningful project related to energy careers. The goals of the experience are for program participants to: ● Gain useful building performance and electrification skills and techniques. ● Develop technical skills and career readiness through training and work experience. ● Access resources and mentoring to increase participation and success in energy careers. Participants work approximately 160 hours at an hourly rate of $18 per hour. The position will start as soon as possible after the right candidate has been selected and the project will take place until the participant has fulfilled their 160 hours. The work will be at various residential job sites throughout the SF Bay Area. Applicants will receive preferred consideration for, and must be open to, a job at the placement site following this subsidized employment program. Participants will work with Building Efficiency crews to install HVAC systems and insulation. In this position participants will assist high quality construction work in the San Francisco Bay Area. Typical projects include installing high efficiency gas furnaces, heat pump systems, air conditioning, insulation (cellulose and fiberglass), air sealing and installing vapor barriers. We also do some plumbing so you may be asked to assist in water heater installation projects. We are looking for someone who is willing to learn, reliable, hard-working and who works well on a team. APPLICANTS MUST: ● Have technical construction and/or mechanical/electrical interest and aptitude ● Possess effective communication skills ● Be able to provide valid Federal I-9 form required identification and authorization for employment ● Be an efficient self-starter with excellent time management skills ● Have teamwork experience and aptitude DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: ● Experience or interest in energy efficiency, demand response, and renewable energy ● Experience in the construction trades, specifically with insulation and HVAC installation ● Technical knowledge of building science and energy efficiency technologies and systems TO APPLY To apply please send a resume and cover letter to SEI at [email protected]. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This position requires applicants to perform the following tasks: Read/comprehend, write, perform calculations, communicate orally, reason and analyze, use fine finger movements, use a computer and mouse, sit, stand, walk, drive a motorized vehicle, carry and/or lift up to 40 pounds, reach above shoulder level, bend, squat, crouch, kneel, push/pull, grasp.
