CONNECTICUT — A full third of the most recent coronavirus cases in Connecticut have been breakthrough cases, according to the state Department of Public Health. Out of the 1,772 cases of COVID-19 recorded by the DPH in the past seven days, 590, or 33.3 percent, were among people who had already been completely vaccinated. With 494 cases confirmed overnight, out of 26,435 tests reported, the daily coronavirus positivity rate reported Friday afternoon was 1.87 percent, a drop of 0.36 percent since Thursday. Hospitalizations dropped slightly, by 12 beds, in the latest data. As of Friday, there are 232 residents being treated for the virus inside Connecticut hospitals. Most of those hospitalized (72) are in New Haven County.
