MCLEAN, VA — A gas leak has been stopped at Dolley Madison Library in McLean Thursday afternoon.
Fairfax County Fire and Rescue responded to the gas leak at the library in the 1200 block of Oak Ridge Avenue. The library and McLean Community Center were evacuated as a precaution. Fairfax Library tweeted that the library location was closed due to a "facility issue." No injuries were reported.
According to the fire department, a 2-inch gas line was hit by workers. The gas company is on the scene to stop the leak. There is no estimate on when the facilities will reopen.
The fire department response prompted the closure of Ingleside Ave closed from 1235 Ingleside Ave to Dolley Madison Boulevard. Fire department units have left the scene and are back in service.
