GREENWICH, CT — Greenwich Public Schools has amassed 75 COVID-19 cases among students and staff since school began in September. However, weekly cases have remained in the single digits for several weeks. According to the latest update from GPS, there have been six new cases reported this week. The district updates its COVID-19 tracker every Tuesday and Friday. As of Friday, Oct. 15, there were eight active reported cases affecting seven students and a teacher. There was one case each at Old Greenwich School, North Mianus School, Hamilton Avenue School, Eastern Middle School, and Central Middle School; and three active cases at Greenwich High School. Four of the active cases can be traced to outside activities or family members, and four are undetermined, according to the tracker. GPS spokesperson Jonathan Supranowitz said the district is pleased about the fact that new weekly cases have remained in the single digits since late September. "Students, staff, and parents have collectively worked hard at keeping our mitigation strategies in place that contributes to the relatively low numbers at Greenwich Public Schools," Supranowitz said. "We cannot thank them enough for helping us keep our entire school community safe." To see the entire GPS COVID-19 tracker, click here.
