MERCER COUNTY, NJ — Mercer County and New Jersey has seen an uptick in coronavirus cases. But what does that mean for the county? As of Friday, the County reported 49 new COVID-19 positive cases and one lab-confirmed death. The cumulative total of coronavirus cases now stands at 35,676, with 948 confirmed deaths since the pandemic began last year. Officials continue to monitor the delta variant, which accounted for more than 96 percent of coronavirus cases in New Jersey over the last four weeks, according to data provided by the state department of health. Mercer County has "moderate" COVID activity, according to New Jersey's latest COVID-19 activity report (week ending Oct. 9). The determination is based on metrics such as case rate, positivity rate, and prevalence of COVID-like illnesses. Meanwhile, eligible patients can get an additional dose of the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines.
