Press release from the New Orleans Fire Department: October 14, 2021 On Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 1:05 pm, the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) received a 911 call reporting a fire at a home in the 1400 block of Ptolemy St in Algiers. Dispatched immediately, the first NOFD company arrived on the scene of 1422 Ptolemy St at 1:09 pm and found an occupied two-story, single-family home with heavy smoke and visible flames extending from the rear of the property. A large, detached shed and/or a large utility truck parked behind the shed are believed to be the areas of origin. Both the shed and the truck were consumed almost completely in the fire.
