AUSTIN, TX — An Austin program manager for Apple and leader of an activist movement within the company said she was fired on Thursday.
Janneke Parrish was one of the two leaders of a group that called itself #AppleToo, and had been on suspension for several days while Apple investigated her activities, according to the New York Times.
Parrish said she was being investigated because company officials thought she had leaked a recording of an Apple staff meeting to the media, which she said she did not do.

An Apple lawyer and a human resources told Parrish on a phone call on Thursday that she was being fired.
They said the reason she was fired was because she deleted files from her company computer and phone before handing them over to be examined, the newspaper reports. She said she had deleted files that contained personal and financial information.
Parrish believes the company retaliated against her for helping organize the activist group. Apple did not directly address Parrish's status with the company.
Earlier this year, Parrish ran for Round Rock City Council Place 3 as a Democrat in May's Special Election. Incumbent Matthew Baker won the race on May 1.
