Skokie Runners Conquer First Chicago Marathon Since Pandemic

CHICAGO — It may have been a long wait, but for the participants in the 43rd edition of the Chicago Marathon, it was worth it. Taking place for the first time since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Sunday's race was filled with local participants. There were 49 runners from Skokie out of the approximately 26,000 that finished the marathon, according to unofficial results. Seifu Tura, of Ethiopia, won the men's race with a time of 2:06:12 seconds, while and Ruth Chepngetich, of Kenya, took the women's crown after finishing in 2:22:31. The wheelchair races was won by Daniel Romanchuk and Tatyana McFadden, both of the United States, in 1:29:07 and 1:48:57.
