PITTSBURGH, PA —The incredible October warmth finally will subside this weekend, but there's still a healthy mix of outdoor and indoor activities to keep you entertained. Here's some Patch recommendations to pass the time until the Steelers play the Seahawks Sunday evening: Bill Maher, Oct. 16, 8 p.m., Benedum Center. For more than 20 years, Maher has merged politics and humor - first on "Politically Incorrect" on Comedy Central and for the past 14 years on HBO's "Real Time." When he's not busy with his day job, Maher takes his act on the road and performs about 50 dates a year. His appearance in Pittsburgh is one of them. Pittsburgh Monster Pumpkins Festival, Oct. 16-17, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., The Stacks at 3 Crossing, Strip District.This free festival features the famous Atlantic Giants - the most prodigious breed of pumpkins on the planet, with weights exceeding 2,500 pounds. You'll also find food, drinks, crafts, kids activities, a pie eating contest and more. 3 Rivers Comicon Lite, Oct. 16, 12 p.m.-7 p.m., Oct. 17, 12 p.m.-5 p.m., The WaterfrontAs the Facebook page says, this outdoor event is all about comics, collectibles, cosplay and more. Dierks Bentley, Oct. 16, 7 p.m., The Pavilion at Star Lake. Bentley has accumulated 25 singles on the Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts, including 15 that have reached number one. Those songs include "What Was I Thinkin'," "Come a Little Closer," "Settle for a Slowdown," "I Hold On," "Drunk On a Plane," and "Somewhere on a Beach." He brings the Beers On Me Tour to a late-season show at the pavilion. Alton Brown Live - Beyond The Eats, Oct. 17, 4 p.m., Heinz Hall.The Food Network star is considered the master chef of the live culinary variety show with his "Edible Inevitable Tour" and"Eat Your Science," which played in more than 200 cities before more than 350,000 fans. Brown says fans can expect at his latest show can expect "more cooking, more comedy, more music and more potentially dangerous science stuff."
