Woman Choked, Threatened With Death During Domestic: Police

JOLIET, IL — A 46-year-old Bolingbrook man is now in the Will County Jail after Joliet police say he attacked, choked and threatened to kill one of his relatives. Joliet police arrested Derrick Bissic on Thursday afternoon on charges of aggravated domestic battery. Joliet police said the domestic violence happened around 2:20 p.m. in the 2800 block of Adobe Drive on Joliet's far west side. "Officers determined that a female adult victim had been battered by Bissic, her husband," Joliet police reports show. "Further investigation revealed that during an argument, Bissic pulled the victim's hair and choked her, making it difficult for her to breathe." According to Joliet police, Bissic also threatened to kill the victim. After being arrested, Bissic began to complain of a medical issue while being transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility from the Joliet Police Department West Station, police reports reflect. The arresting officer pulled over and requested a Joliet Fire Department ambulance and Bissic was then transported to the AMITA Health Saint Joseph Medical Center. After being released from the hospital, Joliet police delivered him to the Will County Jail and he was booked into custody around 7:10 p.m.
