College of DuPage alumni gained access earlier this month to a new website that will make staying connected to campus even easier. The refreshed website is the College's latest method of welcoming alumni to participate in the COD community through a variety of opportunities, allowing them to better connect, support and be recognized for their achievements. In addition, the website facilitates quick updates, ensuring alumni receive up-to-date information that matches their interests. "This new website will make it more convenient for our more than 160,000 alumni to connect with COD and with each other," said COD Institutional Advancement Vice President Walter J. Johnson, whose office oversees Alumni Relations. The revitalized alumni effort at COD is being spearheaded by a newly formed Chaparral Alumni Network (CAN) Executive Committee comprised of alumni leadership from across many academic disciplines. "Our alumni are one of our greatest assets," said COD Alumni Relations Manager Ellen Farrow. "Their achievements showcase the outstanding academic excellence, integrity and values instilled at College of DuPage, from equity through responsibility. We value their alumni involvement in our campus life and community at large." The refreshed website has drop-down menus, making it easy to navigate the site's dozens of features, including the promotion of alumni-founded, -owned or -operated businesses. "Alumni are welcome to submit their own business to be featured on the page," said COD Institutional Advancement Communication Specialist Angela Bender. "We find this a simple way for both our alumni who are in business and those who seek to support them to connect." The website also features engaging stories and photos that prominently represent campus news and events that will appeal to alumni; a resources page providing information on ordering transcripts, career services, business development and continuing education; and information on how alumni can support their alma mater through the COD Foundation. In the future, Alumni Relations hopes to create a meet up section on the website for alumni who wish to network with peers who share their hobbies and other interests. "We hope that all alumni as part of the COD family, whether a new grad, or graduated decades ago, and regardless of their area of academic interest, will find the website to be a great resource and a way to connect and engage with COD, Alumni Relations and their fellow alumni," Bender said. The College of DuPage Foundation and CAN Executive Committee members provided input on the design of the website. The College of DuPage Foundation, established in 1967, provides for the educational development and welfare of the College and its students. Its mission is to obtain and steward philanthropic contributions to expand educational and cultural opportunities for the College of DuPage community. For information, visit foundation.cod.edu.
