ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving domestic disturbances, tire thefts, sign damage, a forgery, a car burglary and a package theft. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports: Domestic disturbances A domestic disturbance took place about 12:15 a.m. Thursday in the 600 block of Swain Avenue. A woman said a man grabbed her. The man said the woman took his phone and that he attempted to get it back. Police could see no signs of injury. The woman agreed the man had not intended to harm her as he tried to get his phone back. No arrests were made. The man left the house for the evening.Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 1:30 p.m. Monday near Route 83 and St. Charles Road. An officer saw the suspect and approached him. The man ran to a nearby car, committed several traffic violations and drove away south on Route 83. The suspect's car was stolen in Palatine. The man was described as black, 20 to 30 years old, having an average build and a medium brown complexion, and wearing a black sweatshirt and black pants. Tire thefts Bryan Yancy, 54, of Chicago, was arrested about 5 a.m. Monday on charges of theft of motor vehicle parts, driving with a suspended license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and no valid registration. Arrested in the same incident was Jerome Easley, 22, of Chicago, on a charge of theft of motor vehicle parts. They were taken to the DuPage County Jail. According to a police report, police responded to a call about a possible theft at Enterprise Leasing, 896 N. York St. They saw a vehicle headed south on York. Officers stopped Yancy and Easley. They admitted to stealing six spare tires from Enterprise, police said. Sign damage Three paper signs in front of Dulles Cleaners, 128 Addison Ave., were torn down and damaged Tuesday night. Forgery An officer responded to a forgery in progress about 2 p.m. Monday at Wells Fargo Bank, 333 Route 83. A bank employee said a man provided a false identification and attempted to withdraw $7,000. The suspect left before officers arrived. The man was described as white, 50 years old, 6 feet, 175 pounds, having brown hair, and wearing a baseball cap, eyeglasses, a tan face mask, a tan T-shirt and black pants. He had an Ace wrap around his left hand. His fingers appeared swollen. Fraud A person in the 400 block of West St. Charles Road purchased a PlayStation 5 on Oct. 8. When the package was delivered, it contained only a surgical mask. Car burglary A car was burglarized at some point from Monday night to Tuesday night at Elmhurst University, 190 Prospect Ave. Someone entered the car, rummaged through the glove compartment and left several items in the car. The miscellaneous items were placed into evidence. Nothing was stolen. Package theft A resident in the 700 block of Howard Street told police Wednesday that she received notification that FedEx delivered her packages and that the items were signed for. The resident said she never received nor signed for the packages. Bicycle found A black and green Huffy mountain bicycle was found Monday near Seminole and Parkside. It was placed into evidence for safekeeping. Driving violations Keith Ternoir, 50, of South Holland, was cited about 10 p.m. Monday at North and Maple on charges of no valid driver's license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and improper lighting. He was released on bond.Kimberly Martinez Solis, 18, of Addison, was cited about 10 a.m. Tuesday at North and Melrose on a charge of no driver's license. He was released on bond. Police report information is provided by local police departments. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions on a given day, and persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
