Oregon City High Cancels Homecoming Dance, Parents Reschedule It

OREGON CITY, OR — It's not quite the show must go on but apparently, the dance will go on. Twice. After the Oregon City High School canceled this year's homecoming parade, a group of parents came together and decided to throw one anyway. On Saturday, instead of the usual homecoming dance, there will be two. The parents rented out Abernethy Center and are having a dance from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. followed by another one starting at 7 p.m.. Attendance at both is limited to 325 people. The school had canceled the dance because of concerns that one student with a positive test could force hundreds to quarantine. While organizers of the Saturday dances are requiring proof that people are students, they are not requiring masks or proof of vaccination for those old of. The event page says nothing about social distancing.
