After a string of intriguing court filings this week, absentminded slobs in hot water with the feds should probably start watching to see if Ald. Patrick Daley Thompson beats bank and income tax fraud charges by coming clean with a dirty secret they have in common. Lawyers for the grandson and nephew of Chicago mayors want potential jurors to know Thompson is "one of, if not the most disorganized lawyers" who can't pay attention long enough to read an entire email, according to court papers. Attorney's representing the 11th Ward boss contend that's a reason he's not guilty of willingly lie to the feds and defrauding the IRS. If Thompson's scatterbrain defense works, imagine the sudden outbreak of messy desks and unfilled Adderall prescriptions that could pop up at City Hall. KONKOL COLUMN: Is Alderman Thompson's Scatterbrain Defense Genius Or Cuckoo? Intermittently Wet. High: 64 Low: 48. The feds are going after O-Block, Chicago's most notorious gang turf known for producing murders and hit-making drill-rappers. Five men with O-Block ties were indicted on racketeering charges in the 2020 Gold Coast slaying of rapper FBG Duck. (Patch)Bears rookie Justin Fields considers himself a big game quarterback. But don't fear for your ankles yet, the scooters must be equipped with "geo-fencing" tech that will prohibit them from going on the sidewalk, aldermen said.
