SAN RAMON VALLEY, CA — Dougherty Valley High School teacher Michelle Wilson will be considered for California's 2021 Teacher of the Year competition, the San Ramon Valley Unified School District announced. Wilson, who teaches ninth-grade English and advanced placement language classes, was one of two teachers who took the county title, the district said. She's the fourth SRVUSD teacher in five years to advance to the state competition. "Michelle Wilson is an educational leader on her campus and in our District," said SRVUSD Superintendent John Malloy said in a statement. "She inspires her students by allowing their voices, differences, cultural experiences and unique traits to be an integral part of the classroom experience. She creates a climate where students are more than a statistic. She sees and embraces their passions and creates a space where they feel like they have true purpose and can envision a future of success." Awardees will be announced this month, according to the state.
