Description
DOUGLASVILLE, GA — The second season of the Church Street Farmers Market has been extended through the end of October, thanks to overwhelming popularity among both vendors and customers.
Douglasville residents will be able to visit the seasonal farmers market, located at 6730 Church Street, every Tuesday through Oct. 26 from 3-7 p.m. The market is held rain or shine, with the exception of severe thunderstorms and lightning.
Farmers market officials told the Douglas County Sentinel that it was the right decision, considering many farmers are producing late crops.
"We have had a very good response from vendors and customers, especially our farmers," Susan Culpepper, University of Georgia extension coordinator for Douglas County, told the Sentinel.
At the next market Oct. 19, there will be live music from Alexander High School Performing Arts, led by Sandra Mahoney Chandler, according to the farmers market Facebook page. The choir will be performing at 4:30 p.m.
A costume contest is being planned for the Oct. 26 market, and kids will be able to trick or treat at the booths as well.
