SEI is seeking applicants for the position of HVAC and Building Performance Technician, placed with employer partner Efficient Modern Heat Pump DBA Electrify My Home LLC, funded by MCE rate payers, and employed by SEI through our Energize Careers program. The Energize Careers Program allows individuals to gain real-world energy career experience by contributing to a meaningful project related to energy careers. The goals of the experience are for program participants to: ● Gain useful building performance and electrification skills and techniques. ● Develop technical skills and career readiness through training and work experience. ● Access resources and mentoring to increase participation and success in energy careers. Participants work approximately 160 hours at an hourly rate of $18 per hour. The position starts as soon as possible with a target date of Aug 30th, and the project will take place through approximately the end of September at “Efficient Modern Heat Pump HVAC” DBA Electrify My Home LLC project sites in and around East Bay Area, Solano, Napa, and Contra Costa Counties - Office location Vacaville, CA. Applicants will receive preferred consideration for, and must be open to, a job at the placement site following this subsidized employment program. Technicians in this position will assist with projects such as air sealing, install heating and cooling systems, water heaters, and solar photovoltaic systems. APPLICANTS MUST: ● Be mechanically inclined. You enjoy working with your hands and fixing things. You know tools, have done some type of labor in the past (even if at home), and enjoy learning how things work. ● Possess effective communication and teamwork skills ● Have a clean driving record and reliable transportation to work ● Be able to provide valid Federal I-9 form required identification and authorization for employment ● Be ready to Perform work in challenging locations such as attic spaces and crawl spaces. ● Work in what would be considered a dirty job ● Be able to arrive at the workspace on time and ready to work ● Be able to take direction from coworkers that might be younger than you ● Be respectful to the customers house and property ● Be resilient and communicative with coworkers from diverse backgrounds DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: ● Experience in the construction trades or with fixing cars, mechanical systems, or appliances/devices ● Experience or interest in energy efficiency, demand response, and renewable energy ● Ownership of and experience with using hand tools TO APPLY To apply please send a resume and cover letter to SEI at [email protected]. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This position requires applicants to perform the following tasks: Read/comprehend, write, perform calculations, communicate orally, reason and analyze, use fine finger movements, sit, stand, walk, drive a motorized vehicle, carry and/or lift up to 40 pounds, reach above shoulder level, bend, squat, crouch, kneel, push/pull, grasp.
