Description

*For those that have seen this post before: If you emailed me on the previous one and I didn't reply, I included my number this time (because email got filtered to Spam). But if you text, include a song you think might fit what I describe below, just so I can filter out the scammers and bots.* The vision: A male/female acoustic duo that specializes in punk rock versions of traditional styles like blues and folk that performs badass, high-energy live shows. The setup: Me with my guitar and vocals, you with your [whatever] and vocals. I'd prefer you're not solely a vocalist; hopefully you can bring another instrument to the table, be it another guitar or banjo or mando or harp or cajón or whatever. It's sharing duties both vocally and instrumentally, however that evolves organically. A fun exploration of traditional music, but also with punk rock energy. It's like The White Stripes' acoustic stuff met Jason and the Punknecks. The Ramones meets Mandolin Orange. I'm a transplant from Michigan wanting to see what's up with the music scene in Austin, having spent many years as a gigging musician back home (as a punk rock blues duo, incidentally). But my drummer there would never sing with me, and now that I'm starting from scratch, I want to try it with female vocals, and I want to try it acoustically to start out. If you think you're interested, send me an email/text and let's talk. And please be of the mindset to at least want to try to hit some open mics, working towards actual gigs, at some point in the non-pandemic future.
