The City of Ventura is hiring! We have an immediate vacancy for the position of Safe and Clean Groundskeeper. The Safe and Clean Groundskeeper performs basic manual work in the care, maintenance, and upkeep of public areas, such as parks, beaches, sidewalks, street medians, and other public and City-maintained areas. The Safe and Clean Groundskeeper duties are typically performed as a member of a roving crew. The Safe and Clean Groundskeepers typically travel throughout the City performing light maintenance, unskilled landscaping, and trash/debris pick-up in a variety of public areas and homeless encampments. Work hours vary depending upon the time of the year and may include weekends, afternoons, nights and/or holidays. Incumbent may be required to work stand-by on rotational basis and report to work on a callback basis as needed within a designated time frame. Standby assignment is at the discretion of the Division Manager. The ideal candidate takes pride in keeping parks, beaches, sidewalks and surrounding areas in the City clean and accessible to the public. This person works well with a team and is self-motivated to get the work done. The selected candidate will be courteous and professional when interacting with the public. The ideal candidate will have enthusiasm for the work performed and the mission of the Safe and Clean Team. Salary and Benefits The City offers a total compensation package that includes both a generous salary plus excellent benefits! Salary: $16.90 - $20.54 Hourly DOQ Qualifications A combination of education, training, and/or experience equivalent to six months working in a related maintenance or groundskeeping position. License: Possession of a valid California Class C driver license with an acceptable driving record is required.
