Columbus Mental Health Community Weekly Peer Support Meeting (check meetup for all dates and times) https://www.meetup.com/CMHC-Ohio
Peer support meetings are an opportunity for those with any mental health related challenges to come together in a mutually supportive environment. Individuals are welcome to come to share their experiences, request support, offer support to others, and simply listen to be among an understanding community.
As a core ideology CMHC, believes in respect for the individual. Within our application of respect, CMHC strives to create a safe space for those struggling with suicidal ideation (thoughts of suicide) to speak openly about their experience without fear of consequences. Those with suicidal intention (any deliberate act or imminent plan that is contributing to an intended suicide) be allowed to speak about their experience freely and have every effort made to adequately provide a healthy, safe space to allow these thoughts to pass. The objective is to take any possible steps to avoid added stress of wellness checks, hospitalizations, or other common responses that risk further stress during this challenging experience.
Other past events offer a more thorough description for those interested.
