1 Mile Hike through Sharon Woods Metro Park. All abilities welcome! Title of Program: DISCOVERY WALK Main Contact at the Park: SHARON WOODS METRO PARK/ ALLI SHAW, NATURALIST Description of Program and What Can Families Expect: WE'LL TAKE A 1-MILE STROLL THROUGH THE STATE NATURE PRESERVE, EXPLORING FALL USING OUR SENSES, A SCAVENGER HUNT, AND HIDDEN CRITTERS. Date: SATURDAY OCTOBER 23 Time: 1PM (ONE HOUR PROGRAM) Location and Driving Directions: 6911 Cleveland Ave, Westerville, OH 43081. WE SHARE A TRAFFIC LIGHT WITH ST. ANN'S HOSPITAL, 1/4 MILE NORTH OF I-270 Meet Up Point: SCHROCK LAKE PICNIC SHELTER Driving directions or specific instructions for finding location: ONCE INSIDE SHARON WOODS, PROCEED THROUGH THE PARK TO THE LAST PARKING LOT. WE'LL MEET AT THE LARGE SHELTER WITH A SMALL #3 ON THE FRONT OF IT. Rain or Shine?: YES, CANCELED ONLY IF LIGHTNING Recommended items to bring, things to wear, etc: DRESS FOR THE WEATHER. SUNSCREEN/BUG SPRAY, HATS, AND COMFORTABLE SHOES ARE RECOMMENDED. Is this program wheelchair/stroller friendly?: THE TRAIL IS NOT PAVED, BUT IS WHEELCHAIR/STROLLER ACCESSIBLE. Does this program have ready access to running water? YES, ONLY AT THE RESTROOMS Is this program in the sun, shade, or other outdoor elements we should make families aware of?: SHADE IN THE FOREST, SUN IN THE PICNIC AREAS What is the length of the hike? : 1-MILE What type of path is the hike on? (gravel, dirt, rocks, etc): FLAT, HARD-PACKED GRAVEL REMINDERS Registration is required and space is limited. Please reserve a ticket for every person that will be attending (including parents.) Register today to reserve your spot!In the event of inclement weather, the outing will be canceled and rescheduled. We encourage family participation!Please dress for the weather during the evening hike. We recommend your child and family wear sun protection (sunscreen, hat, etc) wear bug spray. We will also have some available for families to use. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes and bring a water bottle.
