Join us as Visiting CIC Fellow Theresa Brown, Ph.D., RN, author and nurse, Zooms into GCU for a public lecture.
Theresa Brown arrives on the scene with both her pen and stethoscope poised to listen, question, report, and heal. Working as a clinical nurse in Pittsburgh, Dr. Brown demonstrates her commitment to excellent patient care and equitable working conditions. Through her writing, she makes visible both the silent suffering of her patients and the often-overlooked work of nurses.
This public lecture promotes health literacy at the individual and organizational level: what part do we, as engaged citizen scholars, play in witnessing, addressing, and participating in this healing process?
Theresa Brown, Ph.D., RN, is author of the forthcoming Healing: When a Nurse Becomes a Patient. She also wrote the New York Times bestseller The Shift: One Nurse, Twelve Hours, Four Patients’ Lives. The Shift portrays one real shift worked by a hospital nurse, showing a day-in-the-life of an RN, but also all the life in one day in the hospital.
