World premiere of the third silent movie project from Grammy-nominated Tijuana musicians Nortec: Bostich y Fussible Presented by UC San Diego Park & Market, in association with San Diego Jazz Ventures Nortec: Bostich y Fussible have been awarded a grant by the German Cultural Center of Monterrey to create original music for the classic 1924 German Expressionist silent movie Das Wachsfigurenkabinett (Waxworks). Don’t miss this unique opportunity to experience this world premiere of electronic music by Nortec performed live to an outdoor screening of the film. The spooky nature of Waxworks lends itself to the season of Halloween and Dia De Los Muertos. This event will also feature traditional Mexican music by master accordionist Gerardo Espericueta and trumpeter Ivan Trujillo, and food and beverages for purchase from local restaurants and breweries. The unique and cross-cultural nature of the event is an exciting example of the programming that UC San Diego Park & Market will offer to the community. Doors Open 6:30 p.m. Film 7:10-9:30 p.m. (includes 20 minute intermission) Important Notes: This event will be held outdoors. All attendees must be vaccinated or have a recent negative COVID-19 test and will be expected to provide proof of vaccination or provide a recent (within the last 48 hours) negative COVID test for event participation. Masks are encouraged except while eating and drinking. This event is 21+. Students must show valid student ID for entry.
