October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. On 10/28, advocates and supporters from the Twin Cities will gather to raise awareness.
One in four women, at some point in their lives, have been involved with an abusive partner. We are calling on our community to stop this type of violence by removing the seclusion of the home by bringing awareness to the issue into the public.
At this event you will hear true stories, monologues, poems and songs from women that survived after living through domestic abuse. These stories are incredibly powerful and positive. We applaud their courage as they decide to speak out and tell others about their experiences. We will also pay tribute to the lives of women became casualties.
This event is free to attend and free appetizers and beverages will be available. Many victims flee their situation without many personal belongings. We are asking, that if you are able, please bring new or gently used women shoes and/or handbags, to be donated to victims.
Brought to you by Hands2Hand.org, Tru SisterHood, Twin Cities Natural Hair & Beauty Expo, KissyStayPut.org and Brothers Empowered.
