TAMPA, FL — A man wanted for attempted murder in Alachua County was arrested by the Florida Highway Patrol in Tampa Thursday. Troopers located Nathaniel Allen Klippel, 20, of Tampa, wanted for attempted murder and witness tampering following a Sept. 4 incident investigated by the highway patrol along Interstate 75 in Alachua County. The September incident involved a traffic crash in which Klippel was a passenger in a vehicle driven by a 20-year-old Valrico woman. Troopers said Klippel and the woman were arguing as he grabbed the steering wheel, causing the driver to lose control and crash. Following the crash, both were taken to the hospital where Klippel was overheard by several witnesses intimidating the victim to not report the incident. A week following the crash, the victim was able to evade Klippel and contact the highway patrol to report the incident. Troopers obtained a warrant for Klippel's arrest and took him into custody at 3812 W. Fig St. in Tampa after surrounding his home and encouraging Klippel to surrender. He's being held at the Hillsborough County Jail on $150,000 bail.
