Lumber Yard Associate – Oakland, CA Van Matre Lumber Company, Inc. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Do you enjoy working outside in the sunshine with a great team to help customers find top of the line products? We are looking for dependable individuals who would like to be in a company that invests in their employees by giving them valuable training opportunities to expand their skills while providing them with career advancement opportunities. YOU ARE A PHYSICALLY ABLE to use your hands/ body to handle and control machinery, hand-tools and power-tools. You are also intentional and use proven procedures safely to fulfill client orders. Skills Required • Willingness to learn. • Ability to read and fill the customers’ orders properly. • Handle all other associated paperwork. • Safely operate various pieces of equipment from, utility knives, two-way radios, power saws and forklifts(We can get you Forklift Certified). All training on this equipment is provided in house by our staff. • Must have ability to lift 75 pounds. • Lumber industry experience not necessary but encouraged. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Strong organizational skills. • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and accept direction on given assignments. • Able to work collectively as a team. • Bilingual English/Spanish not necessary but encouraged.
