Join John Manion, expert garden curator, for an evening in the Arboretum & learn about the many changes native plants go through in Autumn.
The cooler temperatures and lessening of light in autumn triggers a cascade of changes in plants, as they begin their preparation for winter. Some of these changes result in a beautiful array of colors. Using Reflection Riding’s extensive living collections as a hands-on resource, we will focus on attributes and identification features of species found naturally or in cultivation in the Southeast. We will begin by discussing some terminology about the dynamics of fall color, and then take a leisurely walk in the the Arboretum, where we will examine numerous plant species – many of which are excellent selections for gardens. This program is weather-dependent.
