Step into Cooper’s Alley and let our International Market and More transport you to South Asia and Africa with amazing food, music and art. Art 120 is hosting four market events in Cooper's Alley for the public to enjoy. Our events begin October 24th and will close on December 11th. Each event will support up to twenty vendors, that are curated to make attendees feel like they are walking into that part of the world. This event kicks off our cultural market series with the food, music and art of South Asia and Africa. Attendees can experience Henna and hair braiding along with colorful art, clothing as well as wonderful mediterranean food. Kofi Mowaku will perform and lead a drum circle throughout the day. Bollywood dance lessons and an Indian cooking class will be provided by Sush and friends. Our next event is Sunday, October 31st with a special Dia de los Santos celebration recognizing our Latin American neighbors and friends. The History of the International Market We began this journey by organizing the first Dia de los Muertos Market for Chattanooga five years ago. Right before Covid hit, we expanded our cultural outreach to provide opportunities for Chattanooga’s refugee and new American populations to sell their art, crafts, and food. This not only supports our burgeoning entrepreneurs, but also helps create networking and deeper understanding by sharing their awesome food, music and culture with the greater community. The International Market today Our cultural partners: River City Company, The Lyndhurst Foundation, ArtsBuild, Reagan Outdoor, and the Tennessee Arts Commission have joined our efforts to provide four events in Cooper’s Alley, each highlighting a particular region per event.
