The following is a letter to the editor and does not necessarily reflect the views of Framingham Patch In 2017 Framingham made history by electing the first popularly elected female African-American Mayor in the state of Massachusetts as the first-ever mayor of a new city. I have known Yvonne Spicer for over 35 years. We both worked at Framingham High School where she headed the Technology Department. Mayor Spicer has been a godsend to the community and has helped us to become a prominent and powerful city. I supported Yvonne while she was working on her doctoral dissertation. More than 10 years after the tragic death of my husband's brother, Eurie Stamps, the District Attorney's Office and the FBI are reviewing the evidence. I hope the person responsible will be finally brought to justice. I am grateful to Mayor Spicer for supporting my family, including Eurie's children and grandchildren, and being sensitive to the pain we still feel. Mayor Spicer recognized Eurie at the Eurie Stamps Day in March 2021 and I support her now for the following reasons: she listens and bases her decisions on what is best for all. Let's re-elect Mayor Spicer to a second term to continue her amazing work in Framingham! —Joyce Stamps, Framingham
