Here are the top stories in Salt Lake City today: The Jordan School District has announced an incentive program in response to the shortage of substitute teachers. The new "Substitute Teacher Incentive Pay Program" will provide temporary incentive pay up to $500 for substitute teachers who work a required number of days between Oct. 25-Dec. 15, 2021 without canceling an already accepted substitute teaching job. Officials hope the new program will attract more subs, increase the availability of current ones, and reduce cancellations across the district. (KUTV 2News)A new, eight-story luxury hotel is coming to the Gateway area downtown. The hotel, which is on track to open in 2024, will be built on the site of Salt Lake City's historic Union Pacific building as part of an effort to revitalize the area. The hotel will be named Asher Adams, a name derived from the Asher & Adams map of the Utah Territory in 1873, one of the earliest obtainable maps of the territory.
