Pittsburgh Theft Suspect Dies After Being Tased By Police

PITTSBURGH, PA — A theft suspect who was Tased by police police while being taken into custody died Thursday morning, city officials said. Police responding to a theft in progress call in the 5100 block of Harriett Street in Bloomfield Wednesday morning encountered a man city public safety officials termed "non-compliant." A Taser was used during the arrest. In accordance with department policy, the suspect was taken to a hospital to be medically cleared before being taken to the Allegheny County Jail. He suffered a medical emergency outside the hospital and was listed in critical condition yesterday. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office has yet to identify the man or issue the cause of death. County police are investigating the incident.
