LIVERMORE, CA — One man was arrested this weekend on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after a man was stabbed during a drunken brawl in downtown Livermore, police said. The victim suffered stab wounds to his torso, which were not life-threatening, police said. Police did not name the arrested man pending an ongoing investigation. Six people — two groups of three men in their 20s — were involved in a fight around 2 a.m. Sunday in the area of Livermore and Railroad avenues, said police spokesperson Lt. Taylor Burruss. The fight escalated when one man brandished a knife and stabbed the victim, Burruss said. Police tracked down everyone involved in the fight and only arrested one person on suspicion of assault, police said. Others were arrested on suspicion of public intoxication. The victim and his friends became uncooperative after the arrest, Burruss said. The department sent the case to the Alameda County District Attorney's Office, which asked the police department to follow up on certain items, Burruss said.
