Julie has accepted a new job as superintendent of Lowell National Historical Park in Lowell, Massachusetts and will be leaving the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway in November. While we are sad to see her go, let’s spend an evening celebrating her good work for our Riverway. Julie, you will be missed! Wild Rivers Conservancy (the official nonprofit partner of the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway) welcomes you to an open house in Superintendent Galonska’s honor. Visit our new home in Osceola, share your sentiments for a job well done, and socialize over light food and drink. 5:30 PM- Open House 6:00 PM- Program 7:00 PM - Event End Registration required. Parking is limited, please carpool if you are able. Onsite bathrooms are available. For more on Julie’s career, check out this excerpt from a recent article from the Lowell Sun: Galonska has worked for the National Park Service for more than 27 years, with experiences ranging from park operations to park management. She has led and participated in major rehabilitation projects as well as the creation and implementation of new programs and initiatives, especially in the areas of partnerships and visitor engagement. Before becoming superintendent of St. Croix in 2017, Galonska was the chief of interpretation, education and cultural resource management at the Riverway. Earlier in her career, she worked as the site manager for the Frederick Douglass National Historic Site and Fort Circle Parks within National Capital Parks-East, an exhibit and media specialist and interpretive operations supervisor at Cuyahoga Valley National Park in Ohio, and historian and acting team leader for interpretation at Fort Smith National Historic Site in Arkansas.
