Indi found herself in Animal Control alone and terrified. She puffed up as big as she could and hissed at all who dared to approach her condo. She was certain we meant her harm. She's just a baby and we made sure to quietly gain her trust. It only took less than a week and several servings of wet food to win her over!! Now she recognizes several of our volunteers as her friends. She enjoys being cuddled and having her belly rubbed. She has shown interest in toys but isn't a big fan of noisy ones. She may be slightly cautious of new people but if she was able to make this big of a transformation so quickly with us, she will certainly flourish in a home. An adoption counselor will be in contact with you following the submission of your application. If approved, they will arrange a meet and greet at one of our monthly trips to Chesapeake or at our shelter. Visits to the shelter are by appointment only, as we are a volunteer-run rescue organization. All PAWS dogs are spayed/neutered, and current on the vaccinations appropriate for their age. Those who are confirmed over 4 months old or older will have their rabies vaccinations. Age permitting, dogs/puppies are tested for heartworm. All are treated with flea/tick prevention and given internal parasite preventative on a regular basis. All are microchipped (for their safety and the adopter's peace of mind) as part of the adoption fee.
