Description
51 year old bass player in Melbourne.
I didn't realize it would be so difficult to find people to play music with! I'm looking to have fun. It's been a long time since I've played with other people and you have to start again somewhere. If the band becomes tight I wouldn't have issues with gigging but I'm seeking something more informal to begin with.
As far as music goes, I'm very open to playing many styles and I'm a quick learner. I prefer rock, blues and jazz (all forms). When I say rock I mean from Little Richard to Twisted Sister to MBV.
I'm kind, mellow type. My bass playing is melodic and I've been focusing on walking lines which are generally improvised. I know how to hold back and stick with chord tones and I know how to free form jam with chord changes. (I would need to look over the changes for a bit to come up with a outline of what I might do. You can't just call out the changes and I'll play it...at this point anyway).
I'd also be interested in playing jazz standards so if you're a frustrated, lonely jazz buff that's wanted to try playing with others then lets try to collab. I'm relatively new to bass but not to music and I'm a quick learner. I already know about chord tones and walking lines so that's half the 'battle'
Influences: Led Zeppelin, Charles Mingus, Paul Chambers, Noel Redding, Smashing Pumpkins, Stray Cats, Joni Mitchell, Queensryche, Early Metallica (no symphonic metallica!!), Operation Ivy, Sex Pistols, NIRVANA (I would love to do a cover of Love Buzz), Soundgarden, Jane's Addiction, Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix, Carpenters, Nick Drake,...I could go on and on.
Couch jams would be perfect. I play a little guitar too and I'm learning how to solo with pentatonics.
If we're on the same wavelength give me an email and we can talk. I am not vaccinated and never will be. Peace.
