Free Tour of Cincinnati's Oldest Restaurant. Historic Mecklenburg Gardens. Mecklenburg Gardens will be conducting a FREE TOUR of its 155 year old facility. Participants will see a brief video presentation about the 155 years of Mecklenburg Gardens Restaurant, and then a guided tour by one of the staff. Tour will end in Mecklenburg's Historic main bar, along with a discussion of beer styles and a free flight of beer. Participants will also recieve a personalized photo to commemorate their tour. Since 1865, Mecklenburg Gardens has remained an important piece of the cultural, social and gastronomical history of Cincinnati. A symbol of the Queen City's rich German heritage, in the late 1800's and early 1900's, the restaurant served as a meeting place for many of Cincinnati's German residents to learn about the American way of life.
