Our annual Willpower Foundation “Will Dance for a Cure” Denim and Diamonds Fundraiser for St. Jude will be held Saturday, November 13, 2021 at the The Hub Music Hall. This year’s event promises to be our best ever with a new venue, dance music, great food and a chance to win fabulous auction items. The WillPower Foundation, Inc. is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization that focuses on raising funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. 100 % of all monies raised are delivered to the Hospital. Our goal is to raise financial aid and awareness to help St. Jude’s battle against childhood cancer. Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food.
On February 18, 2002, William Michael (Will) McGee, age 17, was diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma (liver cancer.) Will arrived at St. Jude and was greeted with caring and loving nurses and doctors who didn’t see him as a patient, but as a part of their family. Will fought his battle as hard as he could and refused to accept pity from anyone. He left St. Jude to return to the peace and comfort of his home August 5, 2002. His main goal in his short life was to make sure he had an impact on at least one person because, if he did this, his life was certainly not in vain. Will passed away in his West Monroe, LA home on September 20, 2002. His mother, father, and sister decided to start the Willpower Foundation as a way to make sure his memory never died. Their goal is to continue helping St. Jude in its research to find a cure for childhood cancer and to be an advocate in North Louisiana for those children who are unable to fight for themselves anymore.
